Thing #12 April 14, 2008
I wonder how many times a day I say to myself "I don't have time"? I loved the fact that I can type in a subject and get a list of news articles about what is relevant to me. I found this to be very productive.
Thing #11 - April 14
Well, this would have been nice to know when I was writing my paper for my Masters Degree. Currently, our 4-6 graders are doing science and history projects. This will be a great tool for them to use to organize and find useful information.

Thing #10 - April 9, 2008
Wiki - I have always been frustrated with email responses from a group of people. By the time someone replies, someone else has replied with possibly the same response and then you have to email everyone again changing the plans. The Wiki option would be so productive and appears to be very easy to use. I worked in the sandbox and was successful with editing and saving. However, when I went to edit on the MN 150 Wiki, I felt uncomfortable changing anything. What did I have to offer? I decided not to make my mark. I plan numerous fundriasing events with a group of 20 team members. I could have used a Wiki page for countless planning sessions in the past.

Thing #9 - April 1, 2008
I especially liked Zoho Writer. I have always wanted to add an emotion but never knew how. I know that sounds lame. I really don't think it is any easier than Google Docs, it just looked more familiar to me. I also like the fact that you have to be invited to edit the document. The comment option was a neat function. I think our Founding Fathers would have appreciated a helping hand in editing the Constitution!
Thing #8 - April 1, 2008
My ZoHo presentation was uploaded but I am somehow missing slide #1. I had trouble with my thumbtacks presentation. I think the site is still under construction. I am beginning to feel more confident getting me creations to my blog. I am always amazed when things actually appear by just clicking the correct button.

Thing #7 -March 31, 2008
email - I have to admit that I am tempted to say "time waster". I feel it is our responsibility as a professional to make sure we are using email as a productivity tool. It has helped open communication with parents and staff. However, I am annoyed by how many emails I open each day that are silly jokes and other time wasters.
IM - TIME WASTER! Students are IMing each other while doing homework or other tasks.
Web Conferencing - I watched my husband hold an interview with 3 other employers. I was amazed by the technology and wondered how I might ever use it.
I visited the Ebooks and Netlibrary. I did not attend the Webinar but downloaded the handouts.

Thing #6 March 31, 2008
My third grade class just finished making trading cards with their Media Specialists last week. I just added the projects into their conference folders. I would have never taken the time to understand how they created them if it wasn't for 23 things on a stick.

Thing #5 More fun with Flickr- March 31, 2008
Today I am experiementing with splasr. I'm not sure exactly why I copied this to my blog but I was hoping to see what I had created. I'm excited about all the options for students to be able to use in the Media Center, unfortunately, you can see that I need a lot of help before I can teach them to use any of it.

Thing #4- Flickr try #2
Well, I opened a flickr account, uploaded an image, and tagged the image "23 things on a stick". Sounds successful? yes, but I have no idea how to locate the blog this, button. I have spent a fair amount of time on this. Unfortunately, I will need to move on to Thing # 5 before I have figured this out. Sorry.

RSS - I loved the idea. Any thing that saves you time and makes us more effecive with our time is a great idea. The hard part for me was deciding what to subscribe to. I decided to choose one favorite, just for fun, and then use my PLC Math topic for the others. I am hoping to find lots of good information on math interventions, teaching math problems with real-life applications, and what math concepts students need to first master to be successful math thinkers.

Thing #2 Feb. 26, 2008
Well, it only took me 15 minutes to figure out that my username was my email address. Boy, and I thought this would be easy! I'm lying. Nothing new is ever easy. Interesting and challenging, -yes!
Library 2.0. I don't really see what all the fuss or debate is all about. Yes, many people have been using the numerous "things" for a long time now". For some of us, it is our first step into the world of technology and what it has to offer. I think we need to take hold of it, use it, and treasure its capabilities.
